이 작품은 크레타 섬 Monastery of Arkadi의 해질녘 풍광과 그곳의 유적에서 받은 모티베이션으로 출발한다. 그곳의 자연 환경과 인간이 구축한 건축물이 서로 포개지며 만들어내는 독특한 분위기—빛, 돌, 바람, 식생의 결이 레이어 구조로 표현이 진행된다.

표면을 반복적으로 올리고 파내는 과정은 자연과 인위가 동시에 남긴 층위를 재구성하는 행위. 곳곳에 새겨진 자연물의 문양들로 인위적 행위와 자연형상들, 건축적 질서와 유기적 패턴이 서로 충돌하고 또 조화하는 순간을 기록하고자 했다.

This work originates from the sunset landscape of the Monastery of Arkadi in Crete, and from the impressions left by its ancient remains. The overlapping presence of natural surroundings and human-built architecture creates a singular atmosphere—light, stone, wind, and vegetation are translated into stratified layers within the surface.

The repeated act of building up and carving away reconstructs the strata left simultaneously by nature and human intervention. Traces of natural forms engraved across the work reveal moments where artificial gestures and organic shapes, architectural order and living patterns collide, negotiate, and eventually coexist.
