이 작품은 크레타 섬 Monastery of Arkadi의 해질녘 풍광에서 출발한다. 그곳의 자연 환경과 인간이 구축한 건축물이 서로 포개지며 만들어내는 독특한 분위기—빛, 돌, 바람, 식생의 결을 레이어 구조로 표현하면서 작업되었다.

표면을 반복적으로 올리고 파내는 과정은 자연과 인위가 동시에 남긴 층위를 재구성하는 행위. 곳곳에 새겨진 자연물의 문양들로 인위적 행위와 자연형상들, 건축적 질서와 유기적 패턴이 서로 충돌하고 또 조화하는 순간을 기록하고자 했다.

This work originates from the dusk landscape surrounding the Monastery of Arkadi on the island of Crete. The layered structure reflects the way natural elements—light, stone, wind, and vegetation—merge with the architectural presence built by human hands, creating a unique atmospheric tension.

The repeated processes of building up and carving into the surface reconstruct the strata left by both nature and human intervention. The embedded motifs drawn from natural forms serve as traces of the surrounding environment, capturing moments in which man-made structures and organic patterns, architectural order and natural rhythms, collide and coexist in a single visual field.
